“Born To Blog” by Theresa Toulmon: Respect is more important to a man than love. Men interpret respect as love. …

Respect is more important to a man than love.  Men interpret respect as love.  That is their language.  The Bible puts it this way: “Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband” (Eph 5:33 KJV.)  The Amplified Bible goes on to explain that she must “…see that she notices him, regards him, honors him, prefers him, venerates and esteems him …”.  Many male/female relationships (including father/daughter relationships) fail because the female has not learned to observe this principle.  Like it or not, the woman who yells, criticizes or fails to point out a man’s strengths to him will find that he leaves the relationship emotionally first.  In some cases, he will then leave physically, not because he meets someone more attractive, but because he meets someone who respects and honors him consistently and focuses on his strengths.  This principle may seem unreasonable to some women, but doing things God´s way is wise.  Women are not “second-class” citizens in God’s eyes, although you may encounter some men who think so.  As Godly women, we must know our Father personally.  We must trust in God’s love, even when men do not.  We must know who we are in Christ, even when men do not seem to recognize who we are.  God will fight on behalf of the woman who obeys this principle.  Just because some men try to take advantage of the system, does not nullify God’s system of order and respect. The woman who consistently demonstrates sincere respect for the man in her life will always be the one he chooses to love, and she will be victorious in the long run.  If you are being physically abused, you need a rescue and should seek after it.  But if you are trying to improve the quality of a male-female relationship that has gone sour, you may need to adjust your attitude in the area of respect for the man.  If you cannot find anything about your man that you respect or honor, then perhaps you should ask God to heal your broken heart.  It takes the love of God to do this.   Share this word with someone who needs a word of wisdom today.  You may also benefit from reading my book entitled Be Encouraged: God Can Undo It!
