I just caught the end of a Christian film on TV about Stephen and other Christians over the centuries who were killed for their faith in Christ. Remembering the martyrs and praying for those who are being persecuted today is a good way to keep our own faith strong and not to waiver when we endure hardships, rejection, loneliness or spiritual warfare because of our faith. I especially want to encourage and exhort younger Christians to stand firm in the faith. Here are a few Scripture verses to strengthen you:
“Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. Do everything in love” (1 Corinthians 16:13-14 NIV).
“Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the LORD” (Psalm 31:24 NIV).
“Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come” (Matthew 24:42 NIV).
“Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand” (1 Corinthians 15:1 NIV)
“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery” (Galatians 5:1 NIV).
